What do you think of this story? What should have happened?
The six year old girl won tickets to a Hannah Montana concert by writing an essay. In it, she falsely claimed her father died in a roadside bombing in Iraq. It was a story. As her mother said, we did what we needed to do to win. She lost the tickets. USA Today
For anyone that isn't familiar with Hannah Montana, she's the latest pre-teen idol in North America. Her real name is Miley Cyrus, and she's the daughter of Billy Ray Cyrus.
I think that, when the girl and her mother got to the concert, they should have been told that the contest was a lie, and they had no seats waiting for them. Since the concert is already sold out, they would be SOL.
I'm sorry the little girl got a poor example for a parent, but we don't get much choice in that. Parents, on the other hand, do get a choice in how they model knowing right from wrong. I am afraid that this little girl is going to have to learn from her mother's mistakes.
And good for the contest's sponsor, Club Libby Lu, for doing the right thing. They set a good example for not only a lot of kids and parents, but a lot of companies as well.

I am so glad she lost the tickets. People should not get rewarded for lying. Good job Club Libby lu, for being good role models. What kind of mother is her mother? A parent is supposed to be a role model! not someone who encourages thier children to behave inappropriatly. At least... the minimum.... feel some shame....
I agree with you leppi...a parent should be a role model, and it's really a shame that a 6 year old girl has to learn her mothers lessons...the mom had to have come up with the story...and I'm really sorry that the little girl learned, at 6 years of age, what a sorry mother she has
