A new book on mistranslations [More Misadventures in English Abroad by Charlie Croker] gives this, where the translating author reaches for a truth more important than mere law-abiding motoring . It comes from the English version of the Indian Highway Code:

" We should not drive in the drinking mood and with the worries of the mind. At the time of driving , we should not accompany by ladies. If we do so, it will create accident." (And not just driving, but that's a start...)

This has an unwitting truth too. It's at Jeddah Airport , Saudi Arabia:

"You are required to declare all sorts of private things"

and one for tourists in Cancun :

"Please keep loud wild babes out of the sanctuary "

You may have others, perhaps?

Japan, apparently, encourages tootling:

From a brochure of a car rental firm in Tokyo:

"When passenger of foot heave in sight, tootle the horn. Trumpet him melodiously at first, but if he still obstacles your passage then tootle him with vigor."

"Ladies are requested not to have children in the lounge"
