Yes indeed! The great cultural event of the year (well, you'd think so if you listened to non-Britons in Europe ) The foreigners, particularly the old Soviet bloc states, take it all extremely seriously and regard it as a matter of national pride to do well in the contest.

The British? We think it's a huge joke and employ Sir Terry Wogan, a witty Irishman with a great way of sly insults and subtle mockery, to do the commentary Although we've won it five times our national ambition is to hear the words 'nul points' when the final score is announced. We achieved that, and last place, two years ago but last year we were disappointed: we finished second from last

Is hilarious looking also at the Local celeb Hosts grappling with their excellent Command Of Fluent English. Even on the Voting Panels

It's been going for two hours already , with a third hour to come (plus some if it overruns as usual) !

I've only been dropping by for bits of it. It's like the siege of Sebastopol but without the jokes (and the costumes were more fashionable there )

Joint last is still last, but not as good as last on your own, I grant. It was a good effort, for all that.

I did see the 'clowns' of interviewers but I couldn't bear to turn the sound on when they were on. Seeing them was warning enough not to turn the sound back on .
