Yes indeed! The great cultural event of the year (well, you'd think so if you listened to non-Britons in Europe ) The foreigners, particularly the old Soviet bloc states, take it all extremely seriously and regard it as a matter of national pride to do well in the contest.
The British? We think it's a huge joke and employ Sir Terry Wogan, a witty Irishman with a great way of sly insults and subtle mockery, to do the commentary Although we've won it five times our national ambition is to hear the words 'nul points' when the final score is announced. We achieved that, and last place, two years ago but last year we were disappointed: we finished second from last

I did see the 'clowns' of interviewers but I couldn't bear to turn the sound on when they were on. Seeing them was warning enough not to turn the sound back on .
