I have heard and seen many ads on how you can get your teeth white. Everything from pieces of tape that you put on your teeth, to cream that you smear all over your mouth. Does any of it really work? If so, what kind would you recomend? confused

If I am not mistaken, many of these products contain a bleach or peroxide base. I am sure they work, but my Grandmother used to keep her teeth white by brushing with baking soda and a regular swish and spit peroxide mouth rinsing (DO NOT SWALLOW!!!!!). I don't know if even these work, but there is no reason not to try. big grin

Here is some additional information:

I have used teeth whitening gels from my dentist. They make a mold of your teeth and you place the gel in the mold and wear the molds for several hours a day.

I only did it for a week and my teeth were very white. However, they were also very sensitive to hot and cold afterwards.

I haven't needed to do it again for many months. I don't know if the over-the-counter products work, but the dentists products work well.

I don't remember which news program I saw it on but three were put to the test! The Colgate paste thing was no good! The Crest strips and the Rembrant Mouth Guard like cup thing worked decent! A few shades were noticable! The main thing all accross though was the hardness of use and the gum irratation! And sensatve teeth afterwords! And the strips are above $50 so too expensive!
