Pandiculation = the act of stretching and yawning

All mammals yawn --- including fish. Some scientist think that it's a vestige of our earliest ancestors -- a sort of signal to others before words came into being.
Interesting little article about yawning -- still quite a mystery why we yawn. Part of the reason that we do is that it's a way of stretching that part of our body but this site discounts the theory that we yawn because our bodies need the oxygen. I've heard about the idea that we yawn as a social trait passed down from our ancestors. And I also learned in my anatomy class in high school that we yawn because our bodies use it stay awake.

That is interesting I know everytime someone yawns I sure do...

I was sitting with my dog and he yawn and then I yawned. And it happened another time a few days later.

I have heard that you yawn just to get more oxygen and it is a mere coincidence that people do it at the same time. Lets take this test and see!
