My husband asked me if I had any info on Phentamine. Apparently some of his buddies are using this drug to lose weight and are having good results. I looked it up in WebMD which is where I look most of my medical stuff up, and can't find anything.

My first question is: does anyone know anything about this stuff?
2nd question: where is a good health resource to find out about it?

Do you mean the weight-loss drug phentermine? If so, WebMD has a page on it with the type of info you're looking for.

Shel, I'd tell your husband to stay away from that drug if I were you. Remember back in the 90s there was a weight loss fad that consisted of combining 2 drugs...called fen-phen...well Phentermine was one of the drugs. The drug combo was "outlawed" by the FDA after many reports of heart damage...which brought about massive law suits.

While Phentermine does promote weight loss, it's not an extrememly safe drug and if one has underlying heart or lung problems, taking this drug can exascerbate these conditions. Very few doctors will even consider prescribing this drug anymore.
