This is for all you computer heads that spend too much time at the computer. I was an automotive body designer for forty years. The last twenty years consisted of 10 to 12 hours a day at the computer. I saw that myself and other old geezers were tilting our heads backward to look thru our bifocals. I came up with the great idea to have a pair of glasses (full prescription) set to the distance that equals the distance from the screen to my eyes. Hallelujah!!! You won't believe the comfort and convenience. Puppyblues, maybe this is your problem, since you spend so much time at the screen.

I still have good distance vision, so I wear glasses only for reading. (I prefer the half-frames so I can look up and see at a distance without having to take them off.)

But at the computer, I need a different strength because the distance between my eyes and the screen is different from the distance between my eyes and a book.

I got some full-sized glasses from "The Dollar Tree" that work just great!

It is astonishing that the optomitrist (sp?)who makes your glasses hasn't suggested this to you. Computer glasses have been around for some time. I believe they are just like regular glasses except focused for the proper distance, as TIE suggested. I bought special ones for years until I figured out that if I located my monitor below the level of my eyes, I could see it through my bifocals just fine!

You're right, catty. I am farsighted and have astigmatism. Eye doc said I only need to use my glasses when I use the computer and for reading. I never use them to read, though. Gives me a headache.

That was twenty years ago that I came up with the idea. No one that I know was using them.
