I believe a unisex bathroom (also called family bathrooms) are for situations such as yours. A mother could take her son/ father could take his daughter into this type of bathroom. smile

A unisex bathroom is for either sex to go in. It usually has only one stall and you lock the door when you go in. As far as you being out with your daughter and she needing to go to the bathroom. You need to take her in with you. Don't you remember what happen to the little boy who went into the bathroom alone while his mom waited outside. It was his first time to go alone. Needless to say he never came out some one killed him. I just started letting my 9 year son go in alone. But he opens the door and we yell to see if any one is in there and he looks around. I sometimes stand with the door open with my self outside. DONOT send her in alone their are to many nuts out their that could harm her. My 9 year old is very tall he is 5'3" last January, people really give me strange looks when he comes in with me because they think he is 14 or so.
Many children have been taken away in bathrooms. I saw story where a little girl disappeared and the person had change her clothes cut her hair and made her look totally different but they got lucky and found her. Don't take any chances.

I believe the unisex bathroom is on the way out. A female colleageue of my late husband sued her employer for not providing a bathroom for females only and won. I don't believe women and children should have to use the same bathroom men use.

In the building I worked out before we moved a few months ago we had unisex bathrooms. And they are indeed, as Nursey says, a bathroom for anyone. It's just like letting company in your house all use a guest bathroom. It does feel kinda strange - but hey, when you gotta go...

And to answer your second question as to where to take your daughter...I'd have to say if she is very young then take her to the Men's room. It would be inappropriate for you to take her to a Ladies room since you would be entering with her and seeing other women in their.
