This is an idea that has been discussed for several years. Yet it has only been used to a small degree. Do the MSA's have a place in our health care system? Should they be expanded? What could be done to improve the MSA as we presently know it?

I've not heard of this before. Thinking about it, only those who HAVE money (i.e. those with a decent income) to put away will be able to create such accounts, leaving out those who really NEED coverage and can't afford it anyway out in the cold. It is just a bad situation, but if these accounts can help, it is worth giving it a try.

Would an MSA be a viable alternative for a company to offer its employees instead of regular health insurance??? Especially for small businesses who are not able to offer much in the line of benefits to its employees. Maybe even some big companies might consider an MSA option as an alternative to what they presently have.

Right now I don't see MSA's as a cure-all to the nation's health insurance problems but I do see its potential for some situations.
