I can't seem to go a day without a headache. I've had all kinds of tests run to make sure everything is okay, and it is, but I still am having these things everyday.
I take excedren like candy, but it messes with my stomach and I've tried every other OTC drugs. Nothing seems to help. This has been going on for about three years now.
Any suggestions? confused

Puppy, you may be having "rebound headaches" from taking the excedrin too much. You should contact your doctor. Are they migraines? I was waking up everyday with a migraine and they put me on amitriptyline (40 mg at night) and I hardly ever get headaches anymore. I too was taking over the counter med. and prescription fioricet, and it turned out to be rebound headaches. Good luck, I know how it feels!

Excedrin has caffeine in it. You may be getting headaches from the caffeine. Especially if your drinking coffee and pop throughout the day.

Clare took the words out of my mouth. When I am not pregnant I get migranes alot. And when I don't have a migrane, I have a regular headache. I swear my brain doesn't like me roll eyes Anyway, with a migrane, generally there is an aura. For me its flashing lights and the smell of vanilla. Sometimes I hear faint laughter too. Then after about 5 minutes of that the pain starts. For migranes I find a little bit of caffeine and an aspirin - not acetominophen - works wonders. Migranes are thought to be caused by overfiring of the synapses in the brain, and for some reason caffeine calms them down.

HOWEVER, caffeine for just a headache has the opposite effect. This is because a regular headache is caused by too much blood in the brain. For a headache, I take acetominophen (aspirin thins the blood and actually makes the head ache worse, I find) and lay with my head elevated. It usually takes a few minutes until it starts to dissipate.

Another trick a little old Filipino lady taught me once was accupressure. If you press on your eyebrows, towards the middle, you will find a spot that hurts to push on. Push on this spot kind of hard (yes, it does hurt), on/off/on/off for a couple minutes. Then lay with your head up. I don't know why it works, but it does.

are you taking the birth control pill? i got headaches all the time from it and often migrains are about 2 years. i went off it and now my headaches are only from answerpool computer eye strain! tell us where your headaches are. if they are above your eyes or between your eyes and ears, it's probably eye strain.

Second hand smoke and a lot of fragrances (e.g. musk based scents) tear me up and give me a headache as does being too hot in my office. What I used to think were hangover headaches from drinking were actually attributed to tobacco smoke I inhaled as a consequence of being trapped with it. No more smoke - no more headaches (BTW, I don't smoke). Pollen tears my wife's sinus' up, too.

I have the same problem. I asked my gynecologist (I had the appointment anyway!) about this. He advised me to see a neurologist. He said they were the best at resolving this problem. My GP was absolutely no help at all. Most of the medications they give are caffeine loaded anyway. He suggested I take Excedrin Migraine until I got an appointment. It actually worked. The problem is, I don't drink caffeine at all. It makes me very nervous and completely turns my stomach inside out.
