My daughter is 2 years and 9 months old. Her front teeth stopped coming in and they are crooked and only half way in. She has been telling me that they hurt. Is this a problem? thanks

well, she is still getting her teeth in, and that in itself hurts. I would just just Orajel or other similar child based numbing agents and wait until they all come in. If the problem worstens with bleeding, redness and other signs of infection, go see her pediatrician.

Check with your pediatrician before using Orajel, but it does work great on dental pain, and the liquid doesn't have a medicinal taste. The active ingredient in it, and others like it, is benzocaine, so look for the cheapest brand that has that. I used liquid Extra Strength Walgreen's brand. It's 20% benzocaine. Walgreen's also has the same taste as Orajel liquid. (It taste like, and may very well be, what the dentist numbs your gums with before administering a shot.) It works in seconds.

What does her dentist say?
Braces would probably be incredibly silly for disciduous teeth and I just did a bit of looking around at several pediatric dental sites and all said that crooked baby teeth did not neccessarily indicate that the permanent teeth would be misaligned, but did stress the importance of good oral hygiene and routine dental visits.

I agree; at almost 3 years old, your daughter should be having routine dental visits by now. A visit to your dentist, will put your mind at rest, and set her on the right road for taking good care of her teeth for the rest of her life.
Dentists make these routine visits fun for little kids these days.

If she is complaining of unusual pain, take her to the dentist or her pediatrician, or at least call for advice. It may be perfectly normal, or there may be something they can do for her.
